3 Marks of Existence

"Impermanence", "Unsatisfactory" and "Nirvana" are all symbolized in the art of bonsai. The new line of bonsai pots also offered me an opportunity to reconnect my Chinese past with Canadian present.

Ceramic Journaling

Working from home with kids during the pandemic has not been easy. We had to live more closely with each other and learned to look at the world from a new perspective. It inspired me to create these journal entries in ceramics. It's evolving into more narratives about the past.

Fantasy Series

I live in reality and play my roles as a mother and as a teacher. When I look for some secluded moments, or when my introvert side craves for indulgence, I set fantasies free, in the past or the future, the unreal, surreal or ideal.

Parallel Universes

I cannot help wondering about the alternative universes from time to time, reminiscing about all the decisions I made that might have led me there. But it is the one I am currently living in that keeps me in check and indulges me with its infinite possibilities.

Elements

Metal, wood, water, fire and earth the five elements ancient Chinese believed made up the world;
Earth, fire, water and air four elements according to ancient Greek;
Red, yellow and blue three elements of colour;
In a world full of distractions and temptations, I have to constantly remind myself of the elements of my own: family, friends, teaching and pottery. That is where Element Series started.

Inspiration Series

To make peace between my Chinese past and my Canadian present, I keep on writing and potting. Every once in a while, a streak of inspiration twinkles at me from one world or the other.
